HIGHLAND DANCE
Highland Dance is the traditional solo dance of Scotland danced to the music of the bagpipe. Historically men in Scottish regiments danced highland dance as exercise to improve their stamina for battle. All the dances date back hundreds of years with the Sword Dance dating as far back as 1054. Today Highland Dance can be seen at Highland Games, Tattoos and competitions all over the world. It is an energetic, precise and graceful style of dance.
Our classes aim to support the dancer from learning the basic positions, movements and both the traditional highland and national dances. This is achieved by various teaching techniques, methods, exercises and games.

hIP HOP
Hip hop dance is a style of street dance and cultural movement that evolved with the hip hop music scene in the 1970’s. On the streets in America young people developed a style of dance to the popular music of the time. Today Hip Hop Dance remains a popular form of
dance and is still evolving. The style of dance may involve choreography, along with improvisation and freestyle, especially during dance battles.
Our classes aim to support the dancer from learning the basic movements, inspiring self expression during freestyle to dancing full choreographed routines with their fellow Crew. This is achieved by various teaching methods, style techniques and hip hop related dance games.
